HOUSTON, Dec. 15 -- Independence Hub LLC, an affiliate of Enterprise Products Partners LP, Houston, has selected the American Bureau of Shipping to class the Mississippi Canyon 920 Independence Hub, a semisubmersible facility destined for installation in 8,000 ft of water in the Gulf of Mexico (OGJ Online, Nov. 10, 2004).

The platform, to be operated by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. on Mississippi Canyon Block 920, will serve as a gas-gathering hub for seven nearby fields.

The new platform will be classed an XA1 Floating Offshore Installation. The two-deck structure will be 232 ft wide and 232 ft long and will provide 8,600 tons of cargo capacity on deck for process equipment, motor control center buildings, three-level living quarters, and other facilities.

Preliminary development activities are under way, with platform construction slated to begin in first quarter 2005. Installation is planned for fall 2006, with peak gas production estimated at 850 MMcfd.
