HOUSTON, Nov. 1 -- Magnum Hunter Resources Inc., Irving, Tex., has elected Jerry Box as chairman. Gary C. Evans will remain president and CEO of the independent producer until he retires in April 2005.
Box also will chair a new committee of independent directors from Magnum's board to investigate all possible strategic alternatives available to the company. Evans previously held the position of chairman.
Box has served on Magnum's board since March 1999. He is the former President and chief operating officer Oryx Energy Co. and has more than 36 years of experience in the exploration and production industry.
