HOUSTON, Oct. 6 -- Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has discovered 13° gravity oil on Block 21 in the onshore portion of the Espírito Santo basin with its directionally drilled well 3-CCS-2D-ES (Córrego Cedro Sul) in the municipality of São Matheus.

Preliminary estimates point to 50 million bbl of recoverable oil. The discovery occurred in the São Mateus and Mucuri formations, where 62 m of oil-bearing sandstone were found at 560 m.

A treatment plant and terminal, which are nearly complete at Campo de Fazenda Alegre in the same basin, will make it easier to develop the new deposit should it be declared commercially viable.
