Valero taps GE to supply power recovery equipment at Paulsboro refinery

Valero Energy Corp., San Antonio, has let a multimillion-dollar contract to GE Energy to supply equipment for a power recovery system at Valero's Paulsboro, NJ, refinery.

HOUSTON, Sept. 24 -- Valero Energy Corp., San Antonio, has let a multimillion-dollar contract to GE Energy to supply equipment for a power recovery system at Valero's Paulsboro, NJ, refinery.

The system will have the capacity to generate 18 Mw of electricity to support operations, GE reported.

The equipment will be shipped in the fourth quarter of 2005 and installed during second quarter 2006, when it will begin operation. GE also will provide project management assistance.

Matrix Service Industrial Contractors, Eddystone, Pa., is the installation contractor.

The power recovery system features a hot-gas expander, gearbox, synchronous generator, power control room, piping, and related equipment.
