HOUSTON, Aug. 27 -- Marathon Canada Petroleum ULC announced that it did not encounter commercial quantities of hydrocarbons at the Crimson F-81 deepwater wildcat well off Nova Scotia.

The Crimson well is on the Annapolis block, Exploration License 2377, and 211 miles southeast of Halifax in 6,861 ft of water. The well, drilled to a depth of 21,903 ft, will be permanently plugged and abandoned.
