Libya advertises blocks for licensing round

National Oil Corp. of Libya delineated 15 areas that contain 55 blocks available for bidding in the country's first exploration and production licensing round.

HOUSTON, Aug. 16 -- National Oil Corp. of Libya delineated 15 areas that contain 55 blocks available for bidding in the country's first exploration and production licensing round.

The blocks total 126,646 sq km. Six are all or partly offshore in the Mediterranean, and the others are in the Ghadames, Sirte, Cyrenaica, and Murzuk basins. One Murzuk block is close to the borders with Niger and Chad.

The 15 bidding areas cover 4,374 to 11,317 sq km each and are comprised of two to four blocks each. Data room fees rahge from $12,510 to $129,565 per bidding area.

NOC published the notice on its website (www.noclibya.com/NOCbid_English.htm) and will hold information meetings in Tripoli Sept. 5 and London Sept. 14.
