HOUSTON, Aug. 12 -- Calgary-based Husky Energy Inc. reported Monday that it has drilled four wells, including an oil producer that underwent testing, and three water injectors in White Rose oil field off Newfoundland and Labrador. Husky said it expects to produce first oil by late 2005 or early 2006.

Oil flowed on test from the horizontal White Rose B 07 2 well at more than 9,000 b/d, the maximum allowed by test facilities on the rig. The well's horizontal section is about 1,200 m long. Based on pressure measurements and flow rate determined during the test, the estimated productive capability of the well through permanent production facilities is 25,000-35,000 b/d, Husky said.

Hookup and commissioning of topsides on the SeaRose floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (FPSO) is under way and will continue until the vessel leaves Marystown, Newf., for White Rose field in third quarter 2005. The riser buoy, currently being towed from Bay Bulls to the field, will be pulled into the vessel's turret when it arrives, providing the FPSO's anchor point.

Husky, operator of the $2.35 billion White Rose project, owns 72.5%. The company estimates probable reserves to be 200-250 million bbl, and anticipates peak production of 100,000 b/d from the field.
