Anadarko reports higher Bossier gas rates in East Texas, North Louisiana

HOUSTON, Aug. 5 -- Production rates are up in the Jurassic Cotton Valley (Bossier) gas fields of East Texas and North Louisiana in the quarter ended June 30 compared with the first quarter of 2004, said Anadarko Petroleum Corp.

The more recently developed Vernon field in North Louisiana averaged a gross 253 MMcfd in the June 30 quarter, up 16% from the first quarter. The flow there peaked at 275 MMcfd during June.

Start-up of treatment facilities at Caney Lake brought Louisiana takeaway capacity to 400 MMcfd. Three wells were producing a combined 25 MMcfd of gas from Cretaceous Hosston.

Several of the higher-flowing wells made 12-13 MMcfd on completion, and the Davis Bros. 12B-1 in the Ansley area found 167 net ft of pay and tested 5 MMcfd.

Production from the East Texas Bossier fields averaged a gross 278 MMcfd, up 2.5% quarter to quarter.
