HOUSTON, July 30 -- First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. (FPC) and Algeria's national oil company Sonatrach, reported test results of the ZCH-1 exploration well on Block 406a, Rhourde Yacoub, in Algeria's Berkine basin. The discovery well, drilled to 3864 m TD, encountered multiple gas and light oil reservoirs, FPC said.

Cumulative initial production flowed on test 8,545 b/d of hydrocarbon liquids6,376 bbl of light oil and 2,169 bbl of condensateand 56.2 MMcfd of natural gas from several geologic zones at various wellhead flowing pressures, FPC said. Test results are being analyzed further to project the reserves size and production potential.

FCP holds 49% interest in Block 406a and rights to the oil, condensate, and natural gas liquids on the block. Sonatrach, with 51%, holds rights to the dry gas obtained after extraction of condensate and natural gas liquids.

ZCH-1lies 30 km from the nearest producing hydrocarbon accumulations.
