Tullow Oil reports gas discovery at Lalmai, Bangladesh

Tullow Bangladesh Ltd., a unit of Tullow Oil PLC, Dublin, reported its Lalmai-3 well on Block 9 onshore Bangladesh flowed on test as much as 8.6 MMscfd of dry natural gas from a zone at 2,420-2,460 m.

HOUSTON, June 13 -- Tullow Bangladesh Ltd., a unit of Tullow Oil PLC, Dublin, reported its Lalmai-3 well on Block 9 onshore Bangladesh flowed on test as much as 8.6 MMscfd of dry natural gas from a zone at 2,420-2,460 m.

The well, drilled to evaluate the potential of a large anticlinal structure, reached 2,800 m TD. Tullow plans to appraise the potential of the Lalmai structure when it completes the Bangora well 40 km north of Lalmai that spudded June 2 on the same trend.

Tullow, holding a 30% working interest, operates Block 9 with coventurers Niko Exploration (Block 9) Ltd. 60%, and Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration & Production Ltd. 10%.
