InterOil receives first crude for Papua New Guinea refinery

InterOil Corp., a Canadian company with operations in Papua New Guinea, reported the first shipment of crude oil for its refinery arrived at the company's marine terminal across the harbor from Port Moresby, and commissioning of the refinery can now begin.

HOUSTON< June 17 -- InterOil Corp., a Canadian company with operations in Papua New Guinea, reported the first shipment of crude oil for its refinery arrived at the company's marine terminal across the harbor from Port Moresby, and commissioning of the refinery can now begin.

The refinery, which has a nameplate capacity of 32,500 b/d, will process low-sulfur sweet crude into product to satisfy domestic requirements and provide exports to the surrounding region. BP Singapore is exclusive agent for crude oil supplied to the refinery, and Shell Overseas Holdings Ltd. holds contracts for most product from the refinery.
