TAIPEI, June 29 -- Taiwan's state-owned Chinese Petroleum Corp. has reported plans to construct a 2.2 million-tonne/year methyl alcohol plant in Qatar.
Germany-based Lurgi AG will oversee construction of the new plant, on which ground will be broken by the end of June. The $540 million plant is expected to be completed within 3 1/2 years.
A CPC official said that when the plant begins operating at full capacity it will be the largest facility of its kind in the world.
