FMC to provide subsea systems for Statoil's North SeaNorne satellites

Statoil ASA has chosen FMC Technologies Inc., Houston, to supply subsea production systems for Stær and Svale fields in the North Sea 200 km off the Norwegian coast.

HOUSTON, May 13 -- Statoil ASA has chosen FMC Technologies Inc., Houston, to supply subsea production systems for Stær and Svale fields in the North Sea 200 km off the Norwegian coast. The fields will be tied in to the floating production, storage, and offloading vessel serving Norne field, which began production in1997.

FMC's $79 million contract will include eight subsea trees, manifolds, production controls, and associated systems. An additional contract will include technical services related to systems installation, in water 380 m deep, and to startup, FMC said.

Oil production from the fields is expected to begin by late 2005.
