Flint Hills Resources awards Jacobs low-sulfur FEED, EPC contract

Flint Hills Resources LP, Wichita, Kan., has selected Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., Houston, to provide front-end and detailed design engineering, procurement, and construction services for an ultralow-sulfur diesel fuel project at its refinery in Pine Bend, Minn.

HOUSTON, Mar. 9 -- Flint Hills Resources LP, Wichita, Kan., has selected Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., Houston, to provide front-end and detailed design engineering, procurement, and construction services for an ultralow-sulfur diesel fuel project at its refinery in Pine Bend, Minn.

Officials estimate the overall project value at $325-400 million. Completion is scheduled for second quarter 2006.

The scope of Jacobs' assignment includes a grassroots hydrocracker to produce clean fuels in compliance with new federal clean-air regulations.

Jacobs recently executed the a similar engineering, procurement, and construction project for Flint Hills' low-sulfur gasoline program at Corpus Christi, Tex.
