Santos awards Exeter, Mutineer field umbilical contract

Santos Ltd. has awarded a contract to Oceaneering Multiflex, a division of Oceaneering International Inc., Houston, to supply a total of 34 km of thermoplastic umbilicals for Exeter and Mutineer fields off Western Australia. The umbilicals will be delivered in six lengths during the third quarter. Among other functions, they will provide power supply to as many as14 downhole and mud-line pumps.

HOUSTON, Jan. 8 -- Santos Ltd. has awarded a contract to Oceaneering Multiflex, a division of Oceaneering International Inc., Houston, to supply a total of 34 km of thermoplastic umbilicals for Exeter and Mutineer fields off Western Australia. The umbilicals will be delivered in six lengths during the third quarter. Among other functions, they will provide power supply to as many as14 downhole and mud-line pumps.

Mutineer-Exeter lies within Exploration Permit WA 191-P in the Carnarvon basin, 150 km north of Dampier (OGJ Online, Oct. 28, 2003). Santos is operator—its first offshore project as an operator—and its partners are Kufpec Australia Pty. Ltd., Nippon Oil Exploration, and Woodside Petroleum Ltd.
