HOUSTON, Jan. 20 -- Refinery operator Frontier Oil Corp. reported a fire erupted Monday afternoon at the company's 46,000 b/d refinery at Cheyenne, Wyo. The fire, which was under control within 15 min, was confined to the coking unit furnaces, Frontier said, and no other units suffered any damage.

"All personnel have been accounted for," Frontier reported. "No injuries have been reported with the exception of one case of smoke inhalation."

Other units, the company said, are "operating normally" and the fire's cause remains under investigation.

The affected coking unit will be out of service until repairs can be made to the furnaces; Frontier's best estimates maintain the coking unit will be returned to service in about 30 days. "Consequently, we may reduce the crude charge rate during this period depending on crude availability," the refiner added.

Frontier markets its refined products mainly along the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains and in other nearby plains states.
