El Paso Corp. launches open season for Seafarer natural gas pipeline

El Paso Corp. has launched two separate open seasons for its proposed Seafarer pipeline system, which will transport natural gas from the Bahamas to Southern Florida. The open seasons will continue through Jan. 19.

HOUSTON, Jan. 2 -- El Paso Corp. has launched two separate open seasons for its proposed Seafarer pipeline system, which will transport natural gas from the Bahamas to Southern Florida. The open seasons will continue through Jan. 19.

The 128 mile, 26-in. Seafarer Pipeline—formerly called Bahama Cay pipeline—will have design capacity of 750 MMcfd of gas will transport 1 bcfd of gas from the planned El Paso Global LNG terminal at Grand Bahama Island to West Palm Bach, Fla. (OGJ, Apr. 1, 2002, p. 9).

Separate open seasons are being held on the US and Bahamas sections because the pipeline crosses the US-Bahamas Exclusive Economic Zone boundary in the Atlantic Ocean.

The project is slated to begin delivery service by 2007.
