Burlington creates office of the chairman

Houston-based independent Burlington Resources Inc. has appointed Randy L. Limbacher as executive vice-president and chief operating officer and Steven J. Shapiro as executive vice-president and chief financial officer.

HOUSTON, Jan. 27 -- Houston-based independent Burlington Resources Inc. has appointed Randy L. Limbacher as executive vice-president and chief operating officer and Steven J. Shapiro as executive vice-president and chief financial officer. Limbacher and Shapiro will assume expanded roles in a newly created office of the chairman, Burlington said.

Limbacher and Shapiro also were elected to Burlington's board.

The office of the chairman will comprise Burlington Chairman, President, and CEO Bobby S. Shackouls as well as Limbacher and Shapiro.

Limbacher will supervise the company's day-to-day production and exploration operations, while Shapiro will oversee the company's financial activities.

Limbacher has served as executive vice-president and chief operating officer at Burlington since 2002. He joined the company in 1985 and served in positions throughout the company's operating areas.

Shapiro has served as executive vice-president and chief financial officer since 2002. He joined Burlington in 2000 after serving as senior vice-president, chief financial officer, and director at Vastar Resources Inc., Houston (now part of BP PLC) Previously, he spent 16 years with ARCO.
