HOUSTON, Dec. 9 -- Houston-based Eagle Rock Energy Inc. will acquire a 45 MMcfd natural gas plant from a unit of Tulsa-based Williams Cos. Inc. for an undisclosed price.

The Dry Trail facility purifies and liquefies carbon dioxide from gas produced from ExxonMobil Corp.'s Postle Hough field in Texas County, Okla. It also provides compression, CO2 purification and gas processing service.

The liquefied CO2 is then returned to the field, where ExxonMobil reinjects it into wells for enhanced oil recovery.

The Dry Trial plant was built in 1996 and was named for the Cutoff Trail, or Dry Route, section of the historic Santa Fe Trail, which passes near the plant in Texas County.

Eagle Rock has already begun hiring to fill additional plant operator positions it sees as necessary to successfully operate the facility.
