Senate panel approves Medina for independent chemical board

The Environment and Public Works Committee Wednesday unanimously voted to send to the US Senate floor the White House's nomination of Rixio Enrique Medina to be a member of the Chemical Safety Hazard Investigation Board.

WASHINGTON, DC, Nov. 13 -- The Environment and Public Works Committee Wednesday unanimously voted to send to the US Senate floor the White House's nomination of Rixio Enrique Medina to be a member of the Chemical Safety Hazard Investigation Board.

Medina currently is the manager of Corporate Health, Safety, and Security for Citgo Petroleum Corp. President George W. Bush nominated Medina last June for a 5-year term on the board.

Previously, Medina served as manager of Health and Safety Services for Citgo's Corpus Christi, Tex., refinery. Earlier in his career, he served as safety engineering supervisor for Mobil Oil Corp. and as environmental, health, and safety superintendent for Petroleos de Venezuela SA.
