Pakistan awards Balochistan exploration license to Pakistan Petroleum

Pakistan granted a petroleum exploration license Oct. 2 to Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. for Block No 2966-1 (Nushki) covering an area of 1780.76 sq km in the Chaghai, Mastang, Kalat, and Kharan districts of Balochistan province in western Pakistan. The block falls in prospectivity Zone-I.

KARACHI, Oct. 7 -- Pakistan granted a petroleum exploration license Oct. 2 to Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. (PPL) for Block No 2966-1 (Nushki) covering an area of 1780.76 sq km in the Chaghai, Mastang, Kalat, and Kharan districts of Balochistan province in western Pakistan. The block falls in prospectivity Zone-I.

PPL will invest more than $350,000 for geological and geophysical studies and gravity and magnetic surveys of 750 km. Based on results of the first year's firm work program, the company will opt for a second seismic acquisition of 50 km, investing $756,250 in the second year, and will conduct a similar $3 million program in the third year.
