Valero's Bill Klesse to become NPRA chairman, March 2004

The Washington, DC-based National Petrochemical & Refiners Association announced that its chairman-elect is Bill Klesse, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of the San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corp.

HOUSTON, Sept. 12 -- The Washington, DC-based National Petrochemical & Refiners Association announced that its chairman-elect is Bill Klesse, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of the San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corp.

Klesse will succeed NPRA Chairman Duane Gilliam, the retired executive vice-president
of Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC. Klesse will serve as NPRA vice-chairman until he takes office in March.

Jim Mahoney, vice-president, Flint Hills Resources LP, was elected NPRA vice-chairman, effective in March.

Other newly elected NPRA vice-presidents and members of the executive committee are Don Daigle, vice-president, ExxonMobil Corp.; Jerry Thompson, chief operating officer, CITGO Petroleum Corp., Tulsa; and Norm Phillips, senior vice-president, Equistar Chemicals LP.

Daigle and Thompson will serve 3-year terms ending at the close of the 2007 annual meeting. Phillips will immediately assume an unexpired term that ends at the close of the 2006 annual meeting.
