Pioneer rearranges international responsibilities

HOUSTON, Sept. 11 -- Pioneer Natural Resources Co., Dallas, said Chris Cheatwood, executive vice-president of worldwide exploration, will assume oversight of Canadian operations as the company rearranges its international duties.

Effective Nov. 1, Dennis E. Fagerstone will retire as Pioneer's executive vice-president of international operations after 32 years in the industry. Fagerstone was executive vice-president and chief operating officer for Mesa Inc., Dallas, when it merged with Parker & Parsley Petroleum Co., Midland, Tex. (OGJ, Apr. 14, 1997, p. 26).

Pioneer's reassignments stemming from Fagerstone's pending retirement are slated to take effect Sept. 15.

Scott D. Sheffield, Pioneer chairman and CEO, will oversee Argentine operations while Bill Hannes, engineering and development vice-president, will oversee South African operations.
