Zadco awards Honeywell plant automation upgrade contract in Abu Dhabi

Zakum Development Co. (Zadco), which operates Zakum oil field off the UAE in the Persian Gulf, has awarded Honeywell Industry Solutions, Morris Township, NJ, a $17 million order to modernize the SCADA and instruments control systems at the Zirku and Satah oil separation and gas treatment plants on Zirku Island, Abu Dhabi.

HOUSTON, Aug. 26 -- Zakum Development Co. (Zadco), which operates Zakum oil field off the UAE in the Persian Gulf, has awarded Honeywell Industry Solutions, Morris Township, NJ, a $17 million order to modernize the SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and instruments control systems at the Zirku and Satah oil separation and gas treatment plants on Zirku Island, Abu Dhabi.

The project is designed to improve plant safety and ensure Zirku production stability at the Zirku Island facilities, which include crude oil treatment with hot and cold separation, gas treatment, propane compressor system, storage tanks, loading, and metering units. Satah plant facilities include crude receiving, separation, metering, and gas sweetening. Utilities are common to both plants.

The contract includes the engineering and supply of a proprietary Honeywell integrated controls and safety system and advanced applications at the plants, as well as installation, testing and commissioning, and support services. Completion is slated for April 2005.
