HOUSTON, June 6 -- Shell Exploration & Production Co.'s Mensa A4 well on May 8 produced 143 MMscfd of natural gas, Shell reported last week. The A4 well started production in March with a peak production rate of 300 MMscfd.

Mensa field is in the Gulf of Mexico in 5,300 ft of water 140 miles south of New Orleans on Mississippi Canyon Blocks 686, 687, 730, and 731. The field currently consists of four wells connected via 5 miles of individual 6-in. jumpers to a subsea manifold that is tied back via a 63 mile, 12-in. flowline to a shallow-water platform at West Delta 143. The development's estimated total gross ultimate recovery is 770 bcf of gas, Shell said.
