HOUSTON, May 15 -- Talisman Malaysia Ltd. reported its South Angsi No. 1 well discovered oil in Block PM-305 in two reservoir intervals, which will result in Talisman's second producing production-sharing contract in Malaysia.

The South Angsi is 10 km south of Angsi field. An upper reservoir, with 20 m of net pay, flowed on test at a rate of 8,500 b/d of 41° gravity oil. A lower reservoir interval, with 15 m of net pay, flowed on test at a rate of 2,800 b/d of 48° gravity oil.

Two sidetracks, drilled north and south of the discovery, penetrated oil-water contacts and defined field limits. The discovery is estimated to contain 25 million bbl of proved and probable reserves.

First production from South Angsi is anticipated in mid 2005 at a gross rate of up to 20,000 b/d. Additional exploration drilling opportunities will be evaluated for 2004 based upon 3D seismic data obtained on Block PM-305 in 2002.

Talisman holds 60% interest in block PM-305. Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd., the exploration and production subsidiary of Malaysia's state-owned Petroliam Nasional Bhd. holds the other 40%.
