Dow Chemical awards contract for PET production train in Germany

Dow Chemical Co. has awarded a contract to Jacobs Engineering Group for the engineering and procurement services for the building of a 385 million lb/year polyethylene terephthalate production chain at Dow's Buna Sow Leuna Olefinverbund GMBH site at Schkopau, Germany.

HOUSTON, May 9 -- Dow Chemical Co. has awarded a contract to Pasadena, Calif.-based Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. for the engineering and procurement services for the building of a 385 million lb/year polyethylene terephthalate (PET) production chain at Dow's Buna Sow Leuna (BSL) Olefinverbund GMBH site at Schkopau, Germany.

The value of the contract was not disclosed. The PET chain, which is being added to Dow's existing PET plant at the site, is expected to go on stream by yearend 2004.

Jacobs also is responsible for the overall management of the engineering services of the project's three technology suppliers, the company said.
