AAPG names president-elect

Dallas independent geologist Patrick J.F. Gratton was voted president-elect of the Tulsa-based American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Gratton will serve as AAPG president in 2004-05.

HOUSTON, May 22 -- Dallas independent geologist Patrick J.F. Gratton was voted president-elect of the Tulsa-based American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Gratton will serve as AAPG president in 2004-05.

He assumes his president-elect duties July 1 when Stephen A. Sonnenberg of EnCana Energy Resources Inc., Denver, assumes the presidency. Sonnenberg is Team Lead North Piceance for EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc., a subsidiary of EnCana Corp., Calgary.

The 31,000-member association also elected Erik P. Mason, Shell Oil Co., Houston, vice-president and Robert L. Countryman, Occidental Petroleum, Bakersfield, Calif., secretary.
