HOUSTON, Apr. 7 -- Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Co. Ltd. indicated on Friday that it had restarted 18,000 b/d of crude oil production of the 320,000 b/d linked to the company's Forcados terminal that had been shut in because of widespread violence in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria.

The company in mid-March had shut in 126,000 b/d of its 800,000 b/d production from Bonny and Forcados, declared force majeure and evacuated personnel (OGJ Online, Mar. 24, 2003).

According to reports, Shell expects to have a total of 100,000 b/d of oil production restarted by the middle of this week.
