HOUSTON, Apr. 4 -- Rentech, Inc., Denver, and GTL Bolivia SA successfully completed the technical portion of a joint study to determine the feasibility of building a 10,000 b/d gas-to-liquids plant near Santa Cruz.

Rentech and GTL Bolivia have started examining the project's marketing and economics. These evaluations are expected to be completed by May 31. Preliminary indications indicate favorable economics for the GTL Bolivia project, the companies said.

Under a licensing memorandum of understanding signed last year, the proposed plant would use Rentech's patented GTL technology process primarily to make sulfur-free fuels (OGJ, Oct. 7, 2002).
