KARACHI, Apr. 17 -- Two pipelines transporting gas from southern Sui and Qadirpur gas fields in Pakistan were blasted near Sadiqabad last week, causing temporary suspension of gas supply in Punjab and North Western Frontier provinces April 7.

The attacks, 30 km from Kashmore and in the desert area of Rahim Yar Khan district, briefly disrupted supplies to almost half the country's industrial consumers but caused no casualties, said a Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd. official. The resulting fires were brought under control by shutting down valves to the main compressor junction.

The official said the Bugti tribe, blamed for similar attacks in January (OGJ Online, Jan. 27, 2003) most probably damaged the pipelines.
