HOUSTON, Apr. 7 -- Firefighters extinguished one oil well fire in Rumaila field in southern Iraq over the weekend, leaving only one well continuing to burn in the area said US Army Brigadier Gen. Vincent Brooks Monday during a US central command headquarters briefing in Qatar (OGJ Online, Apr. 4, 2003).
Iraqis had set fire to nine wells in the fields and booby-trapped others prior to coalition forces entering Iraq in March.
