HOUSTON, Feb. 7 -- Yangtze River Acetyls Co. Ltd. (YARACO) has awarded Aker Kværner the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase for YARACO's project to expand an acetic acid facility at Chongqing, China. The amount of the contract was not disclosed.

The work will entail redesign within the core processing plant, including implementation of BP Chemicals's Cativa process technology to expand the capacity of the existing acetic acid plant to 350,000 tonnes/year.
