Snøhvit consortium approves Dragados for LNG plant construction

Seven other Snøhvit field licensees approved Statoil ASA's recommendation of Dragados Offshore to construct the gas liquefaction process facilities associated with Snøhvit's development.

HOUSTON, Feb. 17 -- The seven other Snøhvit field licensees on Feb. 12 unanimously approved operator Statoil ASA's recommendation of Spanish fabricator-contractor Dragados Offshore SA to construct the gas liquefaction process facilities associated with Snøhvit's development (OGJ Online, Feb. 7, 2003).

Dragados will receive a contract valued at 1.45 billion kroner to build and install the barge-mounted gas liquefaction plant at its Cadiz facility. The barge containing the LNG plant will then be towed to Melkøya where it will process gas from Snøhvit, Askeladd, and Albatross fields in the Barents Sea.

Snøhvit field is due to come on stream in 2006.

Statoil holds a 22.29% interest the development. Other partners are Petoro AS 30%, TotalFinaElf Exploration Norge AS 18.4%, Gaz de France Norge AS 12%, Norsk Hydro Produksjon AS 10%, Amerada Hess Norge AS 3.26%, RWE Dea Norge AS 2.81%, and Svenska Petroleum Exploration AS1.24%.
