NICOSIA, Jan. 15 -- Iraq exported 6.7 million bbl of oil for the week ended Jan. 10, a reduction of 7.4 million bbl over the 13.1 million bbl exported during the preceding week, according to figures released Tuesday by the United Nations' oil-for-aid program.

The UN said Iraq exported an average of 0.96 million b/d for that week, a drop of nearly 1 million b/d against an average of 1.9 million b/d exported during the week ended Jan. 3

There were five loadings during Jan. 4-10: three from the Iraqi port of Mina al-Bakr for 4.6 million bbl, and two from the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan for 2.1 million bbl.

The UN estimated that, at an average price of $26.70/bbl, Iraq's most recent exports generated $174 million, at current prices and rates of exchange.

UN oil overseers approved 12 new contracts for the week, bringing the current total to 93, covering 244 million bbl of oil. The UN did not specify the volumes of the contracts.

Phase 13 of the UN's oil-for-aid program extends from Dec. 5, 2002, through June 3, 2003. The UN said estimated revenue generated from the beginning of this most recent phase stands at $1.4 billion.
