HOUSTON, Nov. 5 -- ConocoPhillips has awarded Powell Industries Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary, Powell Electrical Manufacturing Co., Houston, two contracts valued at $7.5 million for power and control modules to be used in ConocoPhillips' deepwater development program in the Gulf of Mexico.

The modules—multi-story units designed as single lift packages containing electrical switchgear and all electrical components installed, interconnected, and tested—will be installed on a ConocoPhillips' floating tension leg production platform off Louisiana in nearly 4,700 ft of water.

The modules will provide electrical power for normal and emergency loads for the facility's drilling, production, and living quarters operations. Delivery is scheduled for June and July 2003.
