HOUSTON, Oct. 4 -- PT Medco Energi International Tbk, Jakarta, agreed to acquire as much as an 80% working interest in and operatorship of the 11,600 sq km Rombebai block in Indonesia from Ramu International LLC, Denver.
The block is mostly onshore along Irian Jaya's north-central coast in the Waropen basin, east of the Bintuni and Salawati basins (see map, OGJ, June 18, 2001, p. 34).
Several undeveloped gas discoveries exist on the block, which Ramu acquired in late 1998.
