HOUSTON, Sept. 20 -- Husky Energy Inc., Calgary, said two exploration wells south of White Rose oil field on the Grand Banks will help with its future exploration strategy but declined to refer to them as discoveries.

The wells, on the adjoining Gros Morne EL 1055 and Trepassey EL 1044 blocks, were aimed at testing the viability of two large undrilled structures south of White Rose in the Jeanne d'Arc basin. Both encountered good quality reservoirs.

Both structures were water-bearing in the main reservoir zone, while Husky encountered more than 140 m of net porous sandstone at Trepassey and 65 m at Gros Morne in undisclosed formations. The Trepassey well also found noncommercial quantities of hydrocarbons in a secondary zone.

Husky holds 100% interest in both licenses.
