Kerr-McGee Corp., Oklahoma City, has selected FMC Technologies Inc. to provide subsea trees and associated services for the Gunnison field area project in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Gunnison is on Garden Banks Blocks 667, 668, and 669 in more than 3,100 ft of water. Delivery of the trees is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Canadian company Hurricane Hydrocarbons Ltd. has finished drilling the first of six deep play exploration wells on license 260 D1 in Kazakhstan. North Nurali 1 was drilled to 2,265 m and produced 47.6°-gravity, low sulfur crude from deep sands during an open hole test. Testing will continue. The rig will move to explore a separate deep prospect to the east of the discovery.

BP PLC has awarded a $13.9 million joint contract to Honeywell Industry Solutions and Wood Group affiliate Mustang Automation & Control to act as control system vendor and integration supplier for the planned development of four fields in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.

Novus Petroleum Ltd. has made a second gas discovery in the Brantas production-sharing contract in East Java. The Carat-1 reached 879 m TD. A drillstem test at 494-500 m flowed 2.3 MMcfd of gas at 630 psi through 24/64-in. choke.

Harken Energy Corp., Houston, has agreed to acquire interests in producing oil and gas properties in the onshore Gulf Coast regions of Texas and Louisiana from Republic Resources Inc. for $2.65 million in common stock. The deal also includes access to proprietary processed 3D seismic data.
