HOUSTON, Feb. 5 - El Paso Energy Partners LP (EPN) has given MODEC International LLC a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the hull, mooring, and production riser system for the world's deepest tension-leg platform.
The TLP, to be owned by EPN and Cal Dive International Inc., will be a production hub at Green Canyon Block 608 in the Gulf of Mexico. It initially will serve Anadarko Petroleum Corp.'s Marco Polo field discovery.
The TLP would be installed in 4,300 ft of water and is capable of supporting equipment to process 100,000 b/d of oil and 250 MMcfd of gas. The facilities are scheduled to be online in 2004.
Ray Koon, MODEC vice-president, said, "In recent years, we have increased the displacement and payload capabilities of the MODEC TLP to successfully compete, as demonstrated by the Marco Polo award, with the spar structures and other large TLP designs.
MODEC International is a joint venture of FMC Technologies and MODEC Inc., Tokyo. It is a turnkey supplier of floating production, storage, and offloading vessels; floating storage and offloading vessels; and tension leg platforms for the energy industry. It operates several FPSOs and FSOs.
