HOUSTON, Jan. 9 -- A unit of Williams Cos. Inc., Tulsa, has completed a $45 million upgrade to its Echo Springs natural gas plant near Wamsutter, Wyo.

The addition of a third cryogenic processing unit boosted processing capacity to 390 MMcfd of gas from 250 MMcfd and liquids extraction to 28,000 b/d from 18,000 b/d. Pro-Quip Corp. of Tulsa completed the installation in early November.

Williams also expanded the gathering system that brings gas into the plant for processing to 400 MMcfd from 330 MMcfd.

Mac Hummel, who directs Williams' midstream business in the Rockies, said, "Natural gas production continues to increase rapidly in Wyoming thanks to record drilling efforts last year. Our project is an important investment because it allows us to stay ahead of the overwhelming demand for gathering and processing services in the area and provides a new source of immediate cash flow for our investors."
