HOUSTON, Jan. 21 -- Indonesian construction company H&H Utama installed an offshore production platform at Unocal Corp.'s Yakin oil and gas field, 8 km off Balikpapan in East Kalimantan, said consulting company Sinclair Knight Merz Pty. Ltd.

H&H used a float-over and ballast down technique proposed by Merz to install CPP2 platform, which is connected by a 20-m bridge to the existing CPP1 platform.

CPP2 will separate 10,000 b/d of wellstream oil and water and 10 MMscfd of associated natural gas.

Sinclair Knight Merz carried out the process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and structural design of the platform's double deck topsides. It also engineered the loadout, seafastening, and installation of the topside during transportation to the site.

Unocal Indonesia, under production sharing contracts with state-owned Pertamina, operates several fields off East Kalimantan.
