HOUSTON, Jan. 30 -- The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved Tuscarora Gas Transmission Co.'s proposed $60 million pipeline expansion.

Tuscarora, a Nevada general partnership, is a pipeline subsidiary of Sierra Pacific Resources, Reno, Nev., and TC PipeLines LP of Houston.

The proposed expansion consists of three compressor stations and a 14-mile pipeline extension from the Tracy Power Plant near Reno to Wadsworth, Nev., and would include an interconnect with the Paiute Pipeline.

Capacity on Tuscarora's pipeline system would increase to 220 MMcfd from 127 MMcfd (OGJ Online, Apr. 12, 2001).

About two-thirds of the capital budget will be spent this year, with commercial operations at 40% of capacity beginning in November. Full capacity should be reached by late 2003.
