Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Co. Ltd. made an oil discovery called Bolia on OPL 219 off Nigeria, said block stakeholder ExxonMobil Corp. Bolia-1X discovery well, in 3,600 ft of water, reached 13,050 ft TD and flowed on test 6,000 b/d.

Greenland expects to announce a licensing round off West Greenland in March and to launch the round in April. If all goes well, letters of invitation will be issued at the beginning of April. Officials plan opening meetings in Copenhagen and Houston.

Meridian Resource Corp., Houston, plans to launch a multiple-well E&D program in a 190,000 acre area recently acquired in southern Louisiana. Meridian has licensed existing 3D seismic data for the area, and plans four 150-190 sq mile 3D seismic surveys.

Energy Partners Ltd., New Orleans, said an exploration well on Louisiana state lease 17120 (East Cameron Block 9) found 185 ft of natural gas pay. Production casing has been set and completion is underway. EPL operates with 50% and Nexen Petroleum Inc. holds the remaining interest.
