Amerada Hess Corp. said two appraisal wells have confirmed its Okume discovery on Block G off Equatorial Guinea. Okume-2 and Okume-3 found 153 ft and 137 ft of net pay respectively. Okume-1 found 200 ft of net pay (OGJ Online, June 4, 2001).

Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. signed a production-sharing agreement with Chevron Nigeria Deepwater Ltd., Shell Nigeria Offshore Prospecting Ltd., and Brasoil Services Co. for 10-year oil exploration lease and a 20-year oil mining license. Chevron will hold 50%, Shell 35%, and Brasoil 15%. The production sharing ratio is 70% for the contractors and 30% for NNPC.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. will exercise an option to drill an exploration well on Block AC/P26 in the Timor Sea, said 50% block stakeholder West Oil NL. Anadarko will pay 100% of the well costs with an option to take 75% of AC/P26 within 90 days of the well completion (OGJ Online, Aug. 7, 2001). If Anadarko exercises the option, West will have 12.5% and Trans-Orient Petroleum (Aust.) Pty. Ltd. 12.5% of the permit.

The Yukon government has issued a call for bids for exploration of the Peel Plateau. The call, to close Jan. 31, invites companies to submit a sealed work expenditure bid for the subsurface rights to a parcel of land.
