Enterprise completes appraisal well for Llano field in Gulf of Mexico

Enterprise Oil Gulf of Mexico Inc. has completed drilling its first well as operator of Llano field, in the Garden Banks area of the US Gulf of Mexico.

HOUSTON, Nov. 27 -- Enterprise Oil Gulf of Mexico Inc., a member of the Enterprise Oil group, has completed drilling its first well as operator of Llano field, in the Garden Banks area of the US Gulf of Mexico.

Llano field, on Blocks 385 and 386, is 25 miles off Louisiana in 2,600 ft of water.

The appraisal well, Garden Banks 385 No. 1, is the fourth well drilled on the discovery. The well encountered two high-quality hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs with 400 ft of total net pay. Production casing was set at 24,789 ft MD and the hole was suspended for future production.

John McGoldrick, president of Enterprise Oil Gulf of Mexico, said more work would follow in the first half.

Enterprise and Amerada Hess Corp. each have 27.5% of Llano field. Mobil Producing Texas & New Mexico Inc., an ExxonMobil Corp. affiliate, and PanCanadian Energy Corp. each have 22.5%.
