Technip, Kazakh national company form joint venture

French company Technip SA and Kazakhstan's national oil and gas transportation company Transport of Oil & Gas created a joint venture engineering and construction company headquartered in Almaty.

PARIS, Oct. 12 -- French company Technip SA and Kazakhstan's national oil and gas transportation company Transport of Oil & Gas created a joint venture engineering and construction company headquartered in Almaty.

The companies will hold 50:50 stakes in Technip Kazakhstan.

The new company will provide engineering services for the construction onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities with the support of Technip. It wants to participate in the supply of the main oil and gas projects in western Kazakhstan, in particular services and construction projects concerning crude and gas cross-country pipelines in the country.

Technip Kazakhstan intends to become a major player in Kazakhstan, helping with the development of Tengiz, Karachaganak, and Kashagan fields.

Technip also said it finalized the acquisition of privately owned engineering and construction company UTC Projectos & Consultoría SA, Rio de Janeiro (OGJ Online, Apr. 18, 2001).
