BANGKOK, Oct. 15 -- PTT Exploration & Production PCL (PTTEP) will build a supply base in Songkhla, a southern province of Thailand, to support its extensive natural gas development in the Gulf of Thailand.

The supply base will replace an existing one elsewhere in Songkhla. It is due for completion in January 2003, said PTTEP officials. Cost was not disclosed.

The new facility, in Singha Nakhon district, will have four berths, 272 m long and 40 m wide, capable of handling vessels of 500 tonnes.

PTTEP operates Bongkot, the country's largest gas field located about 600 km south of Bangkok, and engages in petroleum exploration offshore in several prospects, including Arthit.
