HOUSTON, Oct. 10 -- Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has awarded FMC Energy Systems, a unit of FMC Technologies Inc., an $18 million contract to supply subsea facilities for Albacora Leste field in the Campos basin off Brazil.

FMC will supply three subsea water injection manifolds, two subsea trees, and associated control systems. Delivery will occur in early 2003.

Petrobras and 10% partner Repsol-YPF SA will invest $1.7 billion to develop the field (OGJ Online, May 25, 2001).

In 2003, the partners expect production of 34,000 b/d of crude and 400,000 cu m/day of gas, expandable to 180,000 b/d and 2.25 million cu m/day by 2009.

Once the contract is complete, FMC will have delivered 15 subsea manifolds to Petrobras.

FMC also said it will expand manufacturing facilities in Rio de Janeiro and Macae, Brazil.

FMC will double the size of its covered subsea manifold assembly and test areas in Rio de Janeiro by March. The planned Macae facility expansion will more than double FMC CBV Subsea's capacity to service subsea trees. It is scheduled for completion in early 2002.
