HOUSTON, Oct. 10 -- Ocean Energy Inc., Houston, said a well has added appreciable reserves to its East Zeit concession off Egypt in the Gulf of Suez.

The East Zeit A-21 well reached 16,300 ft TD and found 745 ft of oil pay. The company said the well could add 40-80 million bbl of oil to the 87 million bbl already produced from the field.

Ocean Energy plans to bring the well on stream before the end of the month.

The company plans delineation and further development of East Zeit field next year. It owns 100% interest in the field.

Ocean Energy holds working interests in five concessions in Egypt, three onshore. The company drilled Egypt's longest-reach horizontal well on its East Zeit properties in 1998.

John Schiller, executive vice-president of operations, said, "This discovery exemplifies the appreciable exploration upside that remains in what is considered a mature province."
